Intimate aesthetic treatment is heavily marketed and rarely explained honestly. This is what these procedures can do, what they cannot, and how to tell whether you are a suitable candidate.
In my clinic, women come for four broad reasons: laxity and reduced sensation after childbirth; dryness, burning or discomfort during intimacy after menopause; urinary leakage on coughing, laughing or exercise; and appearance — pigmentation, deflation of the labia majora, or labial size causing physical discomfort in clothing or sport.
Very few come because they want to look like something they saw online. Most come because something has changed and they want it back.
Controlled micro-columns of energy are delivered to the vaginal wall, prompting new collagen and improved blood supply over the following weeks. It is the backbone of tightening and rejuvenation protocols, and it also helps mild to moderate stress urinary incontinence.
Typically three sessions, four weeks apart, each around 15 minutes with topical anaesthetic. Results build over two to three months and generally last 12 to 18 months.
Gentler thermal tightening, often better tolerated for external tissue, and frequently combined with laser rather than used instead of it.
Platelet-rich plasma prepared from your own blood and injected into the tissue to improve quality, lubrication and sensitivity. Because it is autologous there is no allergy risk, and it works well alongside laser for postmenopausal dryness.
Used to restore volume to the labia majora where age, weight loss or menopause has caused deflation. The result is immediate, lasts around 12 months, and can be dissolved if you dislike it.
The only surgical option on this list. It is appropriate where labial tissue causes genuine discomfort in clothing, cycling, exercise or intimacy. It requires proper anaesthetic, two weeks of restricted activity, and a frank conversation about motivation beforehand.
After laser or PRP, most women return to work the same day and describe mild warmth or spotting for one to two days. Avoid intimacy, tampons, swimming pools and hot baths for five to seven days. Fillers may cause swelling for 48 hours. Labiaplasty involves two weeks of limited activity and around six weeks before intimacy.
These are medical procedures performed on medical tissue. They should be carried out by a licensed gynaecologist who can also recognise when your symptom is not cosmetic at all — an infection, a dermatological condition such as lichen sclerosus, or a prolapse requiring surgery. That distinction is the single most important reason to choose a gynaecologist over a general aesthetic clinic.
All cosmetic and intimate aesthetic procedures are self-pay in the UAE. You should receive a written quotation covering the number of sessions, intervals and aftercare before you commit to anything, and there should be no pressure to decide on the day.
